I have been bussier at work, postage costs have skyrocketed, and the sweaters have become harder to find. Thank you to all of you who have supported me through the years. It has meant a lot to me.<br /><br />
Thank you all for the years of support,<br />

I did end up getting a lot of housework done eventually, but first I played with my wool :).<br />
My comforters are too warm for the summer, but a sheet just isn't enough, so I decided to make a lightweight merino quilt for the bed. I need 90 8 1/2" squares to make it the size I want, and I cut 44 of them today, so i'm off to a good start. Hopefully I can finish it before it gets cold again, so I can use it this year!<br />

One of the sweaters had perfect cuffs for cozies for my son's water bottle. It is felted, and was the perfect size, so I didn't have to sew a thing, just cut them off and slip them on!<br />

What could be more fitting than making a sheep out of wool? I found <a href="http://www.purlbee.com/the-purl-bee/2010/3/12/mollys-sketchbook-little-lamb-pillows.html" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b><i>this adorable and easy sheep pillow tutorial</i></b></span></span></a>, Molly's Sketchbook: Little Lamb Pillows, and made one for my bed.<br />
<br />
I cheated on mine, and was too lazy to cut the scallops, so I just cut the general shape of the pattern without them. Though it's not as cute without the scallops, I still like how it turned out, especially with the cabled pattern of the sweater.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieNaP1rqBDqPpb9h_NBqxyD7Pv6mrn974ULWBOQJoiSgDMJNoFGkARKCukTTGHL-Lc7k6NoNqgIClZQXFVR3QTjX3Wwqks9cOZX8aHvBqx15MPP_l-40X6-3J6VP3IibbW57n1AsDwbRo/s1600/sheeppillowfront.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieNaP1rqBDqPpb9h_NBqxyD7Pv6mrn974ULWBOQJoiSgDMJNoFGkARKCukTTGHL-Lc7k6NoNqgIClZQXFVR3QTjX3Wwqks9cOZX8aHvBqx15MPP_l-40X6-3J6VP3IibbW57n1AsDwbRo/s1600/sheeppillowfront.JPG" height="300" width="400" /> </a><br />
<br />
I didn't have any stuffing on hand, so I just used the scraps from the sweater I had left over after cutting the body of the sheep. Since I am always looking for my remote controls, I added a couple of pockets to back for them :).<br />
<br />

I made these a few weeks ago, but haven't had the time to sit down and blog about them until now.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg98Y0SH8MiAhumNJ5MUxCSGmWfEGDICYmm2oxNbOFrmp6i1h4IiCaWyXgm57T43E6Gn3r3EqxE-PC6UWzFi8tz5dqnz2MPFz-ocLA9QNBuXWxayFCZaPcSpsHD33xMC1dvmtC3UUAHC-w/s1600/diapercovers.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg98Y0SH8MiAhumNJ5MUxCSGmWfEGDICYmm2oxNbOFrmp6i1h4IiCaWyXgm57T43E6Gn3r3EqxE-PC6UWzFi8tz5dqnz2MPFz-ocLA9QNBuXWxayFCZaPcSpsHD33xMC1dvmtC3UUAHC-w/s1600/diapercovers.JPG" height="276" width="400" /></a> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg98Y0SH8MiAhumNJ5MUxCSGmWfEGDICYmm2oxNbOFrmp6i1h4IiCaWyXgm57T43E6Gn3r3EqxE-PC6UWzFi8tz5dqnz2MPFz-ocLA9QNBuXWxayFCZaPcSpsHD33xMC1dvmtC3UUAHC-w/s1600/diapercovers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
It's been a long time since i've made diaper covers for my own, so when I was invited to a family member's baby shower, and found out she was going to be cloth diapering, I ran to the sewing machine!<br />
<br />
I used <a href="http://katrinassqs.blogspot.com/2007/10/free-soaker-pattern.html" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: large;"><i><b>Katrina's free soaker pattern</b></i></span></a> for the body of them, but created my own rises (waistbands). I like the fold over style rise, so it can be an extra tall rise for night use, plus they last longer, since babies tend to grow longer before they grow wider. For the longies (pants), I just used the sweaters' sleeves, and for the shorties I used the sweater's cuffs. The longies will last through a few sizes, because of the foldable cuffs and fold over rise. <br />
<br />
I can't wait to see these on the baby! :)Resweaterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18129070280252270568noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6089804831984654807.post-43395362938225654612014-07-08T02:22:00.000-07:002014-07-08T02:22:00.401-07:00It's Tutorial Tuesday! Wool drink cozies!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyWGz_VPXVM_9txFWc4vY-LecdYzjOBWCQQutXDvmVKWgzjhKxvClP0O3eM_67UOawoG2M-vnVNFt8QiRdFt_9cr0nULbxuAmYcma_py6e530vJ7i4EEtMbzO6sjk4eip94AMyxkrfvRk/s1600/cozies.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyWGz_VPXVM_9txFWc4vY-LecdYzjOBWCQQutXDvmVKWgzjhKxvClP0O3eM_67UOawoG2M-vnVNFt8QiRdFt_9cr0nULbxuAmYcma_py6e530vJ7i4EEtMbzO6sjk4eip94AMyxkrfvRk/s1600/cozies.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a> <br />
<br />
What is more perfect for summer than wool? Ok, we may not be throwing on sweaters, or pulling wool blankets over ourselves right now, but there are still great summer uses for wool. I use wool cozies on all of our uninsulated glasses and water bottles, and they work great! Wool is naturally insulated, so it keeps your drink colder longer, and as an added bonus, not only soaks up that condensation on the outside, but wicks it away, leaving your hands dry. Make them in different colors/patterns and everyone will know who's glass belongs to who too!<br />
<br />
I love making these, because they don't use a lot of material (you can make so many out of a single sweater!), they are cool looking, you can customize them, and they are super easy and fast to make!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU5I2xCgM9hsxzYNate9WEBdyAmAPXYG5OdirrXzE4SFdMKk3HegAaS9DF35fXO256D9y6Z82JK_mhBfFFIOWsBxpyLun1EhQalQZRTf7AbutReHuSKJ2SA4ZmLu310eZLb1K-1yK6fG8/s1600/IMG_8365.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
Ready for the tutorial? Start out with any felted wool. Measure from top to bottom how long you want it to be on your glass (I love drinking out of mason jars), then measure around the glass, and take off about 1/2" if it's stretchy, or leave it the measurement around if it is not too stretchy. You want it to fit snuggly, so it doesn't fall off. Now you cut it to that measurement. I like to make the top of the cozy the hem or cuff of the sweater, so it has a nice finished edge.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU5I2xCgM9hsxzYNate9WEBdyAmAPXYG5OdirrXzE4SFdMKk3HegAaS9DF35fXO256D9y6Z82JK_mhBfFFIOWsBxpyLun1EhQalQZRTf7AbutReHuSKJ2SA4ZmLu310eZLb1K-1yK6fG8/s1600/IMG_8365.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU5I2xCgM9hsxzYNate9WEBdyAmAPXYG5OdirrXzE4SFdMKk3HegAaS9DF35fXO256D9y6Z82JK_mhBfFFIOWsBxpyLun1EhQalQZRTf7AbutReHuSKJ2SA4ZmLu310eZLb1K-1yK6fG8/s1600/IMG_8365.JPG" height="183" width="320" /></a><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfM97QdKC0rRS7SpXa1GIn_xKZ-LRs56nGrIlzSP-QqIdpfxxiMzBB1A_YVWMTiIA6IMnYDSmFU5sk4XwcZ-__X-OYuTf81vovI2H-7hrz1AO8YoHByjKqiQn4ZuauKnqRAhZbiPcQiII/s1600/IMG_8368.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfM97QdKC0rRS7SpXa1GIn_xKZ-LRs56nGrIlzSP-QqIdpfxxiMzBB1A_YVWMTiIA6IMnYDSmFU5sk4XwcZ-__X-OYuTf81vovI2H-7hrz1AO8YoHByjKqiQn4ZuauKnqRAhZbiPcQiII/s1600/IMG_8368.JPG" height="283" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Now you need your bottom piece. Just cut a circle about 1/2" wider than the bottom of your glass. If you have a hard time cutting perfect circles, just print out a template from the web, like <a href="http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll132/CrescentOakBrewery/doodles/Circles.png" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: large;"><i><b>this one</b></i></span></a>.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFON32gu4LEEaD2mum-liTw_hP80fRQoOwJFoPWCG8La83gChNd216UR31r06V2K60s3Jjp_iukMBSjlnubiVamOCIhcCpS8jktBF0heHy34ZnOp_euo0_2NS7rT9T_TeNr22Dt7UzO-U/s1600/IMG_8366.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFON32gu4LEEaD2mum-liTw_hP80fRQoOwJFoPWCG8La83gChNd216UR31r06V2K60s3Jjp_iukMBSjlnubiVamOCIhcCpS8jktBF0heHy34ZnOp_euo0_2NS7rT9T_TeNr22Dt7UzO-U/s1600/IMG_8366.JPG" height="255" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigI24wdLjrxzu2SgztjEWw-FErLhElmxEa2gnHohmJYyfXxA8yxeMy1HSKWfddouARPMCKt_hcwF-oXZHNHYuBjwD5SCgK_w1YmbQYt7TPqxUqRLHWWnm-JqprwtwSEczMBheuCp4Za_k/s1600/IMG_8369.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigI24wdLjrxzu2SgztjEWw-FErLhElmxEa2gnHohmJYyfXxA8yxeMy1HSKWfddouARPMCKt_hcwF-oXZHNHYuBjwD5SCgK_w1YmbQYt7TPqxUqRLHWWnm-JqprwtwSEczMBheuCp4Za_k/s1600/IMG_8369.JPG" height="252" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Now sew your cozy seam, wrong side out. I like to stretch it a little as I sew, so the seam won't break if I have to stretch the cozy over a glass tightly.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0E40GGOsew6945nN5xgE3PfP3PhgsN4_Frw4cXLT1W8rH_TuwTHE8uZLhSPU-2j0SX5i72CUJ8GYKrQtuw0spictRCPBESSnBM_4lqG0iyO6UWBJq5US5cS7E5oJ_TbCfvj36WkNcqnU/s1600/IMG_8370.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0E40GGOsew6945nN5xgE3PfP3PhgsN4_Frw4cXLT1W8rH_TuwTHE8uZLhSPU-2j0SX5i72CUJ8GYKrQtuw0spictRCPBESSnBM_4lqG0iyO6UWBJq5US5cS7E5oJ_TbCfvj36WkNcqnU/s1600/IMG_8370.JPG" height="231" width="320" /></a><br />

<br />
Now sew your bottom piece on, again, wrong sides out.<br />

As much as i'd love to make everything out of wool for our new guinea pigs, it is just not practical for all the washing these things will need to endure, so I made a bunch of fleece accessories. Fleece at the fabric store can get expensive, but the thrift stores are full of fleece, just waiting to be upcycled! I found 2 different big double layer (twice the fabric!) fleece blankets, each under $1, and set to work.<br />
<br />
I made cage liners first. Why not just use small animal bedding? Bedding is expensive, and not eco-friendly, since you have to use so much of it and throw it out often. I found that my piggies use their "litter box" for most of their pottying, and use so much less litter than filling the cage. The fleece is soft on their paws, more attractive, and for the stray "tiny Italian sausages" (what my son calls their poops, lol), it is easy and fast to just scoop them off the fleece.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoffDDeUajMqfWHrUqRYdLt2gRkx6HDic_VDkoNuv8LvxcRq_Gfn4lI2FBbsGVJQgLj7aku-MrOrLTgvP6SKrbpSE5AtTz5m2fIKUv7NJQRkpLnmePKz_obEARKEIj0hd0LGtjfXDJv9U/s1600/fleececagesetup.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoffDDeUajMqfWHrUqRYdLt2gRkx6HDic_VDkoNuv8LvxcRq_Gfn4lI2FBbsGVJQgLj7aku-MrOrLTgvP6SKrbpSE5AtTz5m2fIKUv7NJQRkpLnmePKz_obEARKEIj0hd0LGtjfXDJv9U/s1600/fleececagesetup.JPG" height="202" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I saw this idea for a "fleece forest" online,
and my piggies LOVE it! They spend most of their day in there, and they think they are invisible when they are in there, lol. I see you Scruffy!<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuBhgJdI11X8pRXJ7GJtFuAgXBMz2KUJ6Bl9wxzcKNIk60ud0ggE0P5mWf5tJghB4QCahpw4Xi5ZpB6HaAgcAnYXQ_amIU3DYTGWUW_mJEregnN89ROFsLQfCpGQKuzFloeo6He0K5n-0/s1600/fleeceforest.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuBhgJdI11X8pRXJ7GJtFuAgXBMz2KUJ6Bl9wxzcKNIk60ud0ggE0P5mWf5tJghB4QCahpw4Xi5ZpB6HaAgcAnYXQ_amIU3DYTGWUW_mJEregnN89ROFsLQfCpGQKuzFloeo6He0K5n-0/s1600/fleeceforest.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a> <br />
<br />
<br />
This is another idea I got online. I just made a triangle
of fleece with a fringe of fleece hanging down on one end. We don't have
to look at the... um... litter box contents, and they like feeling like
they are hidden. Win-win!<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnCWb8ic3VcdY0dlPagBxkwAWk3805Mlt3wC_fPhjR_i6IVN1fqgbFHuxHl4TNfeZ094zXy5TC0kRp16YYuI6HpLPbCRoGq5GivTX01QcYRSJ1yTiZYoIlkPDCvxtRtaGQyQyy9S_-6OM/s1600/fleececornercanopy.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnCWb8ic3VcdY0dlPagBxkwAWk3805Mlt3wC_fPhjR_i6IVN1fqgbFHuxHl4TNfeZ094zXy5TC0kRp16YYuI6HpLPbCRoGq5GivTX01QcYRSJ1yTiZYoIlkPDCvxtRtaGQyQyy9S_-6OM/s1600/fleececornercanopy.JPG" height="377" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Since whatever doesn't end up in the litter box is usually done in the corners, I made poo-pads, so I can just lift out the litter squares and shake them off into the garbage. Easy Peasy cleanup!<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCcYxuZbXXz76Ye5Mkj0MSbo9fJcSd-id_wfwip3IyMKwj6FGAyllZHpOx1zdMLXMbOElC2RuzdDoD1b9PITAYq2RrpNKhqGcCI1EJGEjeZMYjWdtfC_2emiYJhlJfe18JaduF7Xt51zI/s1600/fleecepoopad.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCcYxuZbXXz76Ye5Mkj0MSbo9fJcSd-id_wfwip3IyMKwj6FGAyllZHpOx1zdMLXMbOElC2RuzdDoD1b9PITAYq2RrpNKhqGcCI1EJGEjeZMYjWdtfC_2emiYJhlJfe18JaduF7Xt51zI/s1600/fleecepoopad.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
The little bed I did make out of wool, but tucked a piece of fleece in the bottom, so I can switch that out when it gets dirty<br />

<br />
Just like the wool hidey bags I made for them, but this one is fleece, so I can wash it with the rest of their fleece stuff.<br />

We just adopted 2 new family member, Spotty and Scruffy (guinea pigs)! <br />
<br />
At first I used regular bedding in their cage, but my sweaters looked like this every time I picked them up.... and that's after brushing off what I can... and it ends up all over the floor. Ugh!<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq4w7sFzqgnLerKxqpHeqF0JmyQ-qIqlH_4Dg1RL5Be2HRSIzb6jiROQsu-k7qU8Ft294xbgph5uJlgDfXIuvJJTIRxRgm_RpZVmSBRCoXXYn-n_kIIzie7EMJHCMjSxaHGmiNmz78L40/s1600/shavingsonshirt.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhq4w7sFzqgnLerKxqpHeqF0JmyQ-qIqlH_4Dg1RL5Be2HRSIzb6jiROQsu-k7qU8Ft294xbgph5uJlgDfXIuvJJTIRxRgm_RpZVmSBRCoXXYn-n_kIIzie7EMJHCMjSxaHGmiNmz78L40/s1600/shavingsonshirt.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a><br />

After reading around online, I found that a lot of guinea pig enthusiasts use fleece liners in the cages, instead of bedding. Less messy, way less expensive, more comfy for the piggies... brilliant! Instead of fleece, for my first attempt, I of course used wool :).<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2NLLiBnE1UT-3QZOx_2ZmKZx_cg12XtAY2gdppUevcFDhqK15Py4weplACQgeqaZYbfYUC82wXcqiPn17LSHOwlf9KnjpNw2SRlwAAp94SRAmGMqcCG1WES_i1z_f-7bo5j2RG-_cwZ4/s1600/woolliner.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2NLLiBnE1UT-3QZOx_2ZmKZx_cg12XtAY2gdppUevcFDhqK15Py4weplACQgeqaZYbfYUC82wXcqiPn17LSHOwlf9KnjpNw2SRlwAAp94SRAmGMqcCG1WES_i1z_f-7bo5j2RG-_cwZ4/s400/woolliner.JPG" height="188" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
Guinea pigs love having stuff to hide in, especially since they are new to us and scared of everything! The cardboard box hideaway was fine while we weren't interacting with them, but when I would go to pick them up, they would go racing around the cage in a panic. I decided to make little sacks for them, like I had seen online made of fleece, but out of some wool blanket scraps I had. With these little tunnel/sack things, I can just pick them up, sack and all, so handling time is a lot less scary and panicked. On the open end, I just folded the edge over twice and sewed, so the opening would be stiffer and stay open.<br />
<br />
<br />

It is supposed to be a <i>high </i>of -10 degrees!<br />
<br />
<div id="DayCell">

</div>
<br />
I have an old house, and just about nothing is insulated. My dining/family room has a sliding glass door, and you can feel the cold pouring in over there. I just hung a wool blanket up for now, but I plan to make something more permanent later. It is amazing the difference that made! Even the floor is warmer.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-tPgPTBvsF0vEiioU570j3skH7WHMB9qS6XQkFBApsN98JnEKC2D0rRbL4p0ArkkpCMaXp_oURAsV5uVXTCJ3mGEytBK_X_Pt87-8LSJJgv5HEPz8Ic6aVLDYNzpqe3bTBdljh_x09dY/s1600/doorwool.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-tPgPTBvsF0vEiioU570j3skH7WHMB9qS6XQkFBApsN98JnEKC2D0rRbL4p0ArkkpCMaXp_oURAsV5uVXTCJ3mGEytBK_X_Pt87-8LSJJgv5HEPz8Ic6aVLDYNzpqe3bTBdljh_x09dY/s320/doorwool.JPG" width="249" /></a><br />
<br />
In the same room I have a few little octagon windows. They are not insulated (or at least not well), and if I put plastic over them, they will fill with mold from trapped moisture. Wool will insulate, while remaining breathable and moisture wicking. I made little covers to go over them from pieces of a pale yellow blanket. I used a lighter color on purpose, so light could still filter through, and as you can see it is :).<br />

My last craft show went well. I didn't sell nearly as much as I was hoping for, but I did well, considering the low turnout. It was snowing during the whole show, and I think people were just not willing to venture out. Oh, well! I still had a lot of fun :). My craft show neighbors were all so fun to talk to, and a friend brought me lunch and hung out with me for a while (thanks, Brooke!)<br />

She doesn't sell them online, but if you are local, and want to contact her about her next show/shows, you can email her. I don't want to post her email here, so she doesn't get spam, but contact me if you want her email.Resweaterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18129070280252270568noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6089804831984654807.post-88545061971991049462013-12-11T13:01:00.000-08:002013-12-11T13:01:14.707-08:00My son's cowl I finally am willing to admit that winter is here, and dug out the rest of our winter accessories. I pulled out the <i><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: red;"><b><a href="http://resweater.blogspot.com/2009/12/recycled-wool-cashmere-neck-cowl.html" target="_blank">neck cowl</a></b></span></span></i> I made for my son when he was 4 (now 8), and he exclaimed "I love that thing! Thank you so much for making that for me, Mama!", and immediately put it on. It doesn't get much better than that! :)<br />
<br />
He won't model for me anymore, so these pics of it will have to do ;)! The outside is pieced together from lambswool scraps, and the inside is lined with cashmere.<br />

Make a recycled wool dog bed!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguVsEZHl6W_pn7gYvIWu9HOEdOzXQTF8DDsqaqfPdFPGRiBbptCN5UnWRaAJ82I-f_CSXpPKyrQjxa_rSVSkTFS-PEIFPM6bt87_3REqPPTJZNKBjE75w4IbGnQQZJXtnahkgM1DJQJ7s/s1600/IMG_6577.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguVsEZHl6W_pn7gYvIWu9HOEdOzXQTF8DDsqaqfPdFPGRiBbptCN5UnWRaAJ82I-f_CSXpPKyrQjxa_rSVSkTFS-PEIFPM6bt87_3REqPPTJZNKBjE75w4IbGnQQZJXtnahkgM1DJQJ7s/s400/IMG_6577.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
This project takes under an hour to make, from start to finish, and your pet will thank you! Why wool for a pet bed? Wool is insulated, so it keeps your pet warm n' cozy when it's cold, and cooler when it's warm. Wool is naturally hypoallergenic and has antibacterial properties, so unlike other materials that absorb dirt and odors, wool resists them! These will not fall apart when you wash them, like the cheap ones in the pet stores, and because they don't hold odors, you won't need to wash them nearly as often. Another great reason... pets love wool! If you lay a wool blanket and a cotton blanket side by side, my dog will always choose the wool! Convinced, and ready for the tutorial?<br />
<br />
I had a couple of sweaters that just wouldn't felt (shrink up), even though they said "dry clean only" and are 100% wool. It happens. Sometimes I come across "superwash" and "washable wool" sweaters too. These won't felt. Since I can't use them for felt projects, I decided to come up with a way to use them in their whole form... pet beds!<br />
<br />
First, take 2 non-felting wool sweaters (you can use sweaters that may felt, but you will have to take care when washing your pet bed, so it doesn't shrink up on you! I have learned that if I use my "wool cycle" on my washing machine, my projects will not felt any further). Fold them into a rectangle shape, with the arms on the inside, smoothing them out as best as you can, so your bed is flat.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqJlD7TnvIA-C6gNQkVwq_xuRLy-RYnQ31-TN5kGwmwJQeOT2tQ6sVfKqbq14w5IX6QL44DrIJTPkrEd0Grc0odnyTbrGuibKQI6PMgOzenqmxHAWs_h6ZCG9KyP7tsfRHw987ZvJA3So/s1600/IMG_6560.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqJlD7TnvIA-C6gNQkVwq_xuRLy-RYnQ31-TN5kGwmwJQeOT2tQ6sVfKqbq14w5IX6QL44DrIJTPkrEd0Grc0odnyTbrGuibKQI6PMgOzenqmxHAWs_h6ZCG9KyP7tsfRHw987ZvJA3So/s320/IMG_6560.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Now that you have your 2 sweaters arranged in a bed-ish shape, baste stitch (big stitches sewn by hand) all around, so that the sleeves don't move around and make the bed lumpy. I know... it's not pretty ;). Don't worry, you'll be making the cover next!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyT1r_ljCO1jdt74nuitW1rBKRfPHRufKnQuNNNxeEFccSqiUT2Gm1Dp7c3DaPF_p5XkQ5vpGs0ZMKiciIQAjnGmbtug4aLndzsA3PWhDnCfPJVXLFhFqx2qhjdejgrRyfc3KGYcce0sE/s1600/IMG_6561.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyT1r_ljCO1jdt74nuitW1rBKRfPHRufKnQuNNNxeEFccSqiUT2Gm1Dp7c3DaPF_p5XkQ5vpGs0ZMKiciIQAjnGmbtug4aLndzsA3PWhDnCfPJVXLFhFqx2qhjdejgrRyfc3KGYcce0sE/s320/IMG_6561.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Now you will want to make a cover for bed. Cut a pattern out of paper that is a rectangle, slightly bigger than your bed insert, about 1/2" bigger all around.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo5zjrc3kw7S99IkKDvAtHlzc6gfFcxgJ_Tfczp5hz63GSybx_auW2ZvVxz-yCWNKkpdsMQKE1iETzZmqjVjs-w4SBfeBJEP02chiA0QTRNFNhDVAoTqi2e4B4_upzM88kZzweR3x9lg4/s1600/IMG_6562.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="228" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjo5zjrc3kw7S99IkKDvAtHlzc6gfFcxgJ_Tfczp5hz63GSybx_auW2ZvVxz-yCWNKkpdsMQKE1iETzZmqjVjs-w4SBfeBJEP02chiA0QTRNFNhDVAoTqi2e4B4_upzM88kZzweR3x9lg4/s320/IMG_6562.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
For the cover, I used part of a felted wool blanket. If your pet bed is small enough, and your sweater is big enough, you might be able to use the front and back panels of a felted sweater instead. Now cut out your cover, using your pattern piece. If you are using a blanket, like I did, you can just cut it twice the width, and fold over the one side, so you have one less seam to make. Once your pieces (or piece) is cut out, sew all sides, except for one.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkR5ozVKO8_huZuYYuFp1OW7lN3cJrNUOjYtHAR3o_TvvWuFpuaMqrU_6-VnFFD_Dx5qtma-KskSom7VX7oVMDHpGuvWJwDgU0O9fdT_UArATSAK3jTvAZi_OT6oZ_G0H-M2OtBmJHK8c/s1600/IMG_6563.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkR5ozVKO8_huZuYYuFp1OW7lN3cJrNUOjYtHAR3o_TvvWuFpuaMqrU_6-VnFFD_Dx5qtma-KskSom7VX7oVMDHpGuvWJwDgU0O9fdT_UArATSAK3jTvAZi_OT6oZ_G0H-M2OtBmJHK8c/s320/IMG_6563.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Now place your bed inside the cover. Once it is inside you can sew a quick baste stitch from the bed to the cover, in each corner, to prevent the bed from moving around inside the cover.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOLKEYKN_sAGrwH-Jp_qQDbtdfLFF9yz45qXXh7RP0MHI3KPAEuh_5dBB_ffqgcSDnTgAB5hcL_PDw9s3vWFSVwcCh-ZJBugSFXjJTz34p213d4A0XQhk7WNVKW6kGFAdbKprPY2KkIrg/s1600/IMG_6565.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOLKEYKN_sAGrwH-Jp_qQDbtdfLFF9yz45qXXh7RP0MHI3KPAEuh_5dBB_ffqgcSDnTgAB5hcL_PDw9s3vWFSVwcCh-ZJBugSFXjJTz34p213d4A0XQhk7WNVKW6kGFAdbKprPY2KkIrg/s320/IMG_6565.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Now just sew up the last side! I hand sewed it, so I could tuck the edges in and make a seam. My machine wouldn't have been able to handle that many layers.<br />
<br />
I promise it's not as wonky as it looks in this picture ;). I have no idea why it doesn't look rectangular, but it is! Maybe because the pattern wasn't symmetrical once the blanket was felted.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrJ3hk_HHG8S-xwYKSQ1M0hPGBBWvFgvXE-LpUxihCbBpmX2HkMyFTTfuGwbfhcLqO4MifRNApPitH-qtFF9vLoqehwaUVMsIUWVlSZGMvV5KWdSC2LChovWRtCcOpLapxgMQQO9aqi_o/s1600/IMG_6567.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrJ3hk_HHG8S-xwYKSQ1M0hPGBBWvFgvXE-LpUxihCbBpmX2HkMyFTTfuGwbfhcLqO4MifRNApPitH-qtFF9vLoqehwaUVMsIUWVlSZGMvV5KWdSC2LChovWRtCcOpLapxgMQQO9aqi_o/s320/IMG_6567.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Now it was time to test it out on Spots! She inspected it thoroughly...<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYSuNpop5AUJde4dJGKZxQAVeF8AZThDuW-du3PfvLwYEiVDELnOEtYgDy7ZbOdQWvd7SzHYYP3TrbOfYNmPOVZqGSI5rY5f_bwxBqK9VFwUjlhketW-pV8Y7c3thgAhypZsbhJumLeF0/s1600/IMG_6569.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYSuNpop5AUJde4dJGKZxQAVeF8AZThDuW-du3PfvLwYEiVDELnOEtYgDy7ZbOdQWvd7SzHYYP3TrbOfYNmPOVZqGSI5rY5f_bwxBqK9VFwUjlhketW-pV8Y7c3thgAhypZsbhJumLeF0/s400/IMG_6569.JPG" width="400" /></a><br />
<br />
... and she approved (that blur at the top of the picture is a happy tail!)!<br />

I have a second laptop, but it has no photo program, so I don't have my sweater pictures to upload at the moment. One way or another, i'll be up & running again in the next day or 2, and will send out the Sweater Monday reminder email to those on the list when I post this weeks sweaters. Thank you for patience & understanding in my time of stupidity and carelessness :). <br />
I gave up doing craft shows a couple of years ago, because I just don't have the time anymore between working outside the home, running Resweater, and being a mom, but I still have so much inventory left, so I thought i'd give it one more show! My prices will be really low, so come on by! I'll have my dryer balls (of course!)...<br />

Winter and Christmas is upon us, so it's time for a fun new winter accessory and gift idea! These are easy to make, and make a great Christmas gift for teachers, crossing guards, moms, sisters... you name it, or just make one for yourself!<br />
<br />
First, you start with your pattern, a square. That's it. I used a 5" square, but you can make them as big or small as you want, depending on how wide you want your scarf to be. When picking out your sweaters for this project, I suggest lightly felting (felted enough, so that the edges don't unravel when you cut, but still pliable and stretchy), so the scarf is not stiff. I used a lambswool angora blend. They felt up nicely, staying soft and pliable, without getting stiff. Cashmere would be great as well!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Ypnl_9qh9mziED2rH9hwiMbGb0d74ciIZFS-SitIZTzsdTHXHQdntukZpnsKHJ9JtNeF2vtLInj2oMDLITsqweRAuN6AvGu9itvlfbivFkegylh4HDp_A9eKFjyJ-VXh-0w5JZAmEpw/s1600/IMG_6280.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="178" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Ypnl_9qh9mziED2rH9hwiMbGb0d74ciIZFS-SitIZTzsdTHXHQdntukZpnsKHJ9JtNeF2vtLInj2oMDLITsqweRAuN6AvGu9itvlfbivFkegylh4HDp_A9eKFjyJ-VXh-0w5JZAmEpw/s200/IMG_6280.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Ypnl_9qh9mziED2rH9hwiMbGb0d74ciIZFS-SitIZTzsdTHXHQdntukZpnsKHJ9JtNeF2vtLInj2oMDLITsqweRAuN6AvGu9itvlfbivFkegylh4HDp_A9eKFjyJ-VXh-0w5JZAmEpw/s1600/IMG_6280.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><br />
<br />
Now that you have your pattern, just cut out a whole mess o' squares.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcO0Kncxu50Ohv60niUIBksQ1aQ7SYLQdWHyR7E3vlVXRYd-2Q3briHZFmR8JPypE9T2qdeNkyqQToxyuncS7cavaSuPJnNEXVV_Wrkcv15MMpjjwIsEckLW-9nG-LZoyO58MKNYZRBpY/s1600/IMG_6281.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcO0Kncxu50Ohv60niUIBksQ1aQ7SYLQdWHyR7E3vlVXRYd-2Q3briHZFmR8JPypE9T2qdeNkyqQToxyuncS7cavaSuPJnNEXVV_Wrkcv15MMpjjwIsEckLW-9nG-LZoyO58MKNYZRBpY/s320/IMG_6281.JPG" width="320" /></a> <br />
Start pinning them together, and you will see how many you need, based on how long you want your scarf to be. The closer together they are, the thicker the middle gets. You can place them at whatever distance apart looks good to you.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJfnzSLjaWVsOq-8emt1qSMrtDX1ph6iKBQpVr6HkxpAxuZ6Znk-YzURHJydEv944PFnznqB3Kl_fQi2G11tCWADy9gddnrhEbmyd-TN9Q6ChavfoIZHFQ9XHl3ITGRKWDk9fiU-OKmk/s1600/IMG_6284.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJfnzSLjaWVsOq-8emt1qSMrtDX1ph6iKBQpVr6HkxpAxuZ6Znk-YzURHJydEv944PFnznqB3Kl_fQi2G11tCWADy9gddnrhEbmyd-TN9Q6ChavfoIZHFQ9XHl3ITGRKWDk9fiU-OKmk/s320/IMG_6284.JPG" width="160" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaR16KlR2zBKh9QoNdyecS_HvW7I4Eb-NLNxiOWW0JHI7QBq-al0d9usjS5DY3a-YGnYQSHkqj34qx79W8NsYOn1Zpv8tpz-Cj49xfADrYn8pLNtl1mZEp3_FkzM3dc8h_XeZbYAyvkTk/s1600/IMG_6282.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaR16KlR2zBKh9QoNdyecS_HvW7I4Eb-NLNxiOWW0JHI7QBq-al0d9usjS5DY3a-YGnYQSHkqj34qx79W8NsYOn1Zpv8tpz-Cj49xfADrYn8pLNtl1mZEp3_FkzM3dc8h_XeZbYAyvkTk/s320/IMG_6282.JPG" width="152" /></a><br />
<br />
Now just sew a straight line through the center, and you are done! See... I told you it was easy!<br />
<br />
Now you just have to decide how you want to wear it!<br />

<br />
<br />
This is such a versatile and easy project. These take me under 5 minutes to make, but look so nice! Ready to learn how to make these yourself? First you cut your pieces of felted wool. You can tweak this to get different sizes, but for this tutorial I used 7" x 2 1/2" for the main piece, and 1 1/2" x 1/2" for the small piece. <br />

<br />
Once you have your pieces cut, take the main piece and fold it in half. Sew the 2 ends together. It doesn't matter what the stitching looks like, because you won't be able to see it when your bow is complete. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2-EqAamb-2VIB6B0oxMQ4v6A6eDadaFcPQwEX2zRVdpauNCecRQdlE7XTNcGa0FLLuzRBfYq0oMgFg-E2BF8Ae5_kbp9cyn_UWFGFV0e3BWU4WJE7h5yyPyJugiFFfygQOvM6UtNfzMI/s1600/IMG_6101.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
Leave the needle/thread attached, and move the sewn seam to the center. <br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisKLtb_jwLXkEeeMPxPhULPi3ZE3cGCaVC-9ZhMJln-FYNDeEr-xoZrnplcwDNkK0CoacDy4XJyjm6lYakREtpS-Rao1mQD8Sa0sudSjd4P9-vMo5LVGMkUxomsAQ2GkZtt8cy338TFJw/s1600/IMG_6106.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisKLtb_jwLXkEeeMPxPhULPi3ZE3cGCaVC-9ZhMJln-FYNDeEr-xoZrnplcwDNkK0CoacDy4XJyjm6lYakREtpS-Rao1mQD8Sa0sudSjd4P9-vMo5LVGMkUxomsAQ2GkZtt8cy338TFJw/s320/IMG_6106.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Now fold the width of the bow in half, so the seam is facing you, and the ends are facing away.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTjw23Rwsiaa97Oaku24Vm_lj0Jy9T8RqOexhumEeCia1VGA4u8XErIED-wr-yanRqBJrCLat4SV8GWKSpPZTKmKmeXM2bA88xRjA9PyhxbwF0rRy1QO4zqhPb4fgaUJ5J1qDT_tdkR6w/s1600/IMG_6107.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTjw23Rwsiaa97Oaku24Vm_lj0Jy9T8RqOexhumEeCia1VGA4u8XErIED-wr-yanRqBJrCLat4SV8GWKSpPZTKmKmeXM2bA88xRjA9PyhxbwF0rRy1QO4zqhPb4fgaUJ5J1qDT_tdkR6w/s320/IMG_6107.JPG" width="320" /></a> <br />
<br />
Now, while keeping the center pinched, fold the sides back toward the seam. The middle should resemble a W.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKxTpBuVpL8ZCG1LCpj92xA20HN1edC6C2NNfXGl6AYyHwyFu1p9IrzNH4T-HC5c-DfF0vB88cCUuxd-AlNfx_kFxHxZx2bJiMuJLFvz9D8gmGC8oik2sxk8TjWZtAoVFYY-6fYn-Yv6c/s1600/IMG_6110.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKxTpBuVpL8ZCG1LCpj92xA20HN1edC6C2NNfXGl6AYyHwyFu1p9IrzNH4T-HC5c-DfF0vB88cCUuxd-AlNfx_kFxHxZx2bJiMuJLFvz9D8gmGC8oik2sxk8TjWZtAoVFYY-6fYn-Yv6c/s320/IMG_6110.jpg" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
Now, while keeping that "W" pinched in the middle, wrap the small strip tightly around the center and sew into place.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Now flip it over and voila! You have a bow!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdcPfCH9bav-zvKOkpwutLOT9KlAJEnkViJfSKh19CfyotxsE2COkix39EyXLS3ZDZlcBobZcxs5_QWbHBDtOcshdTO2sidToswqXu_nnO-JIwd19CTiPQ6gc4XfLTQtjxiecIzbrXkxM/s1600/IMG_6114.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdcPfCH9bav-zvKOkpwutLOT9KlAJEnkViJfSKh19CfyotxsE2COkix39EyXLS3ZDZlcBobZcxs5_QWbHBDtOcshdTO2sidToswqXu_nnO-JIwd19CTiPQ6gc4XfLTQtjxiecIzbrXkxM/s320/IMG_6114.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
<br />
From here there are endless things you can do with your bow. Sew a hair rubberband to the back for a hair bow...<br />

and of course you can use this as a classy bow tie too! Just sew a small strip of wool, or fabric, to the back, to go around the neck, with a little velcro at each end. My child model declined this photo op, so this picture will have to do, but it's much cuter on an actual boy ;)... <br />

Margaret of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/FoxIslandFancywork" target="_blank"><span style="color: red;"><span style="font-size: large;"><b>Fox Island Fancywork</b></span></span></a>, makes a lot of fabulous things from Resweater sweaters. Here is one before and after:<br />

Though I couldn't find the "before" sweaters on these, she has made all these wonderful things from Resweater sweaters, and I am always amazed at what she can do to a sweater! Guess how many I was able to make from one men's small felted merino sweater, and I will send one to whoever guesses closest!<br />

More dog collar bows, lol. These are for Halloween. Spookie bow ties (everything things they look like something different... monsters, zombies, bats... what do you think they look like?) for the big dogs, and pumpkins for the little ones.<br />

Don't worry... i'll stop with the dog bows ;). I have a bigger project in the works that will be done sooner than I expected, plus a few smaller projects rattling around in my head.<br />

These are my latest ones. They are super easy, and I like the way they came out. I just cut random sizes with scalloped edges, and pair them up, then sew an elastic loop on the backs to slip on the collars.<br />

I'm working on some fun ones for Halloween, which i'll blog about next week. I'm working on a bigger project that won't be done for weeks, but i'll blog about that as soon as it's done!<br />

Wow, it's been a while since i've done one of these posts! A few months ago, I started a job working at a dog grooming salon. In our down time, we make bows for our dogs. The other ladies there make cute little bows out of ribbons for the dogs, but after about a dozen embarrassing attempts at making them, I realized I needed to work with what I know best... wool! I made some bow ties for the boy dogs' collars, and some button flowers for the girl dogs' collars. I just sewed a small loop of elastic on the backs of them, so they stretch to fit on any collar width. It's been fun sending my dogs home with these, and my customers seem to really like them.<br />
