It's What I've Been Working on Wednesday! Princess Leia hair

It's been a long time since i've done one of these posts! I know some of you have missed my weekly posts, but many things have changed in my personal life since summer, and I have so much less time. I will definitely try to post when I can though, because I miss these posts too!

Anyway, every year, for Halloween, I always try to dress in a costume that goes with my son's. This year he was Boba Fett (that's a Star Wars guy, for those of you who aren't mothers of school age boys), so I decided to be Princess Leia (now you all should know who that is!). I went to the thrift store in search of a oversized white dress, but came back with a white Snuggie. Once I safety pinned the back closed and threw a belt on, it was perfect for a Princess Leia "dress", and warm too!

For the "hair", I used... you guessed it... recycled wool :) ! I started out with a brown fleece cap I had laying around. I then made a long tube of recycled wool, stuffed it with scraps, then sewed it in a circle to create the "buns", then sewed them onto the hat. The whole process took under  15 minutes. I wish I would have taken pictures along the way, but didn't think to do that then. My whole costume was under $3, and I didn't have to buy anything new... perfect!

New Resweater shipping costs

As many of you know, for years now I have kept a low maximum shipping rate of $6 for Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan, and $10 for all other states. The cost of the sweaters, shipping costs, and pretty much all other costs involved for me, have gone up over the years, and I regretfully have to increase my shipping rates. Starting this Thursday, September 20th, 2012, the new maximum rates will be $8 for Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan, and $12 for all other states. Additionally, any orders of over 25 sweaters will be an additional $10 (so an order of anything over 25 sweaters would be $18 to Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, or Michigan, and $22 to all other states). I have really struggled with this decision, but I have been losing a lot of money lately, due to the rising costs of... well everything, and this will allow me to not raise the prices of the sweaters themselves.

I have 1000 "likes on my Facebook page! Time for a sale! All individual sweaters in my shop are 50 cents off each, and $5 off of any mystery lots in my shop. This sale will run from now until midnight (CST) Wednesday, September 12, 2012. This discount will not automatically apply at checkout, so you have 2 choices. You can pay for them, and I will refund you the difference, or you can email me with your sweater choices and I can remove them from my shop and send an invoice for the correct amount. With the second option, you run the risk of someone being able to purchase the sweaters before I am able to remove them.
