I feel bad that i've been neglecting my blog, especially with all the new readers :( I have been preparing for the Fiber In The Park show next weekend, so I haven't been posting any new tutorials. I promise i'll get something up after the show. This summer I started using recycled wool for three-ply potholders that are great for practicality and cuteness. I also love refashioning sweaters into something new, and making scarves and armwarmers.

I make Mittens, warm,waterproof mittens..I call them Hampsa-Mitts because I live in New Hampshire..i also make Mutt-Mitts ,the same as the other except they have doggie appliques on them..special for walking the dog!!!!
ReplyDeletei love wool sweaters! i cloth diaper. i have made soakers from froggable sweaters, and as soon as i can unearth :) the sewing machine i plan on making some from some felted sweaters that i found at the thrift store. this is my 2nd child that i am CDing and i am loving it more the second time around. i cant wait to start making her longies since winter is soon aproaching.

ReplyDeleteHello! Your blog has inspired me to recycle sweaters. I use them for diaper covers and I made a couple of the wool baskets that you posted a tutorial for quite a while ago. I'm currently thinking about making felted wool booties or slippers for the upcoming winter. They will also make a nice warm bed for my basset hounds.

I'd love to enter. So far with recycled sweaters I have made pull on soakers and have used the arms to make shorties and longies by adding elastic to the waist. I've also made wrap style soakers with snaps and foe to bind.

ReplyDeleteMostly baby diaper covers, actually. I really like to felt up my scraps into strange shapes with felting needles. I've made baby shoes (warm & toasty toes), a little purse, and dryer balls.
Some of the ones I've bought from you I just wear. ;) If you lived closer & we were good friends, I'd come try on sweaters every Sunday.

ReplyDeleteI also have a sweater of my mother's that she loves, but doesn't like how warm she gets. It'll soon be a nice handbag for her. She can never have too many purses.

If I would repurpose sweaters, I would go for the yoga shorts you have a tutorial for (June 6th)- I wonder if you could make them as long trousers as well and make unzippable legs? My daugters (11 and 8)and I are very excited about working with recycled sweaters. They are both huge fiber artists already working with knitting, crocheting and weaving. But we are new to working with upcycling sweaters. We stumbled upon the idea while on a quest for recycled fibers for weaving. We are planning on making some slippers (for ourselves) and Christmas stockings to fill with some home-canned goodies to give as Christmas gifts.
