Tutorial Tuesday - stroller handlebar grips

I have really been trying to get back in shape this summer, so I have been doing a lot of fast walking & jogging. Jack isn't old enough to keep up, so i've been spending a lot of time pushing the jogging stroller. For those of you who think this is not fun for him... he loves it & asks to go jogging :) Anyhow, with the heat, my hands sweat on the foam handlebar, so I made some wool grips. They wick away sweat, and keep my hands from slipping, and a great use of scraps... perfect! I know that I was very sloppy with making these (sorry!), but I was in a hurry, and didn't care how they looked, as long as they worked.

First, I wrapped the felted wool around the bar to measure how big I would need it to be, and cut the pieces to size.

Then I cut the velcro to the width of them.

Next, I sewed the velcro on each end, but sewed half the velcro onto the wool, and half off of it. This reduces bulk from layering, as you can see in the second picture.

Voila! I made a pair for a friend that goes walking with me too.

This post was meant to be!! I have a Combi brand stroller and it's great that they fold up so compactly, but it creates an annoying hinge joint right where I'd like to have my hands. These will slide over that joint perfectly! Thanks for posting this Kris!
