Before and after!

I always love to see what everyone makes from the sweaters, but this was too cute not to share! Lisa made this ADORABLE sock monkey costume for her grandson. Thanks for sharing with us Lisa!

Before...

and after...

Margaret of Fox Island Fancywork, makes a lot of fabulous things from Resweater sweaters. Here is one before and after:

1437 Big cashmere argyle black red sweater for upcycling

Infinity Cashmere Wool Scarf made from an upcycled black and red argyle sweater

Though I couldn't find the "before" sweaters on these, she has made all these wonderful things from Resweater sweaters, and I am always amazed at what she can do to a sweater! If you need any warm weather accessories or unique gifts, her shop is the place to go!

Football sweater mini update

Since I promised to keep everyone updated on the football sweater, I felt I should share the email I received from the alumni office. I have changed the names, for everyone's privacy:

Dear Mrs. Resweater,

As an update to your phone call on April 6, we have emailed Mr. Sweater with the story of his football sweater and your kind offering to return it to him. I have not received a reply as of yet. If I do not hear back from him this week I will make an attempt to reach him by phone and I will keep you updated. Just wanted to let you know that I have not forgotten about it.

Best regards,
Nice Alumni Office Lady

wool robe?

Someone asked me, months ago, if I knew of any tutorials for robes, or if I came up with any ideas to let her know. I have thought about it on and off for months. Hmm... that would take a lot of wool, and it wouldn't match... maybe patchwork... waist tie or button front? I pondered and pondered, but in the meantime, I had donated my fleece robe years ago, and realized that I will never need another. I don't need a robe, because I have my house sweaters, and perhaps, that's all she needs too! I pulled 2 super soft oversized cardigans from my stash a couple of years ago, and I wear them every day. I'm wearing one right now, and almost always am wearing one while i'm on the computer. On especially cold nights, I even sleep with them on. While they may not look the least bit attractive, they are house sweaters, and nobody ever sees them. Because they are wool, they never get stinky, like a robe can get if it's not washed often, and I never get that too hot, hot & cold, feeling that I get from fleece. So, I will probably never make a robe tutorial, because it's easier to just get yourself a house sweater!

What I've Been Working on Wednesday

This week, I made a couple of matching girl/doll beret sets in cashmere (those are $30/set, $25 for wool, since some of my friends were asking how much I was going to charge). Cute, eh?

I also have been working on a cashmere throw for my Grandma for Christmas. She lives in Arizona, so she doesn't need a thick blanket, but thought this would be a nice layer if she gets cold from the AC. Here's a sneak peek at that...

There should be a lot for me to post about next Wednesday, since I am going to make myself seam rip my mistake pile this week, and finish all those half done projects i've been ignoring. I also got my old sewing machine back from the repair shop, so I have 2 machines for the first time!

As always, feel free to show off your finished projects on my Facebook page. I love to see them!

Tutorial Tuesday - Simple Sweater Hat by Nancy's Couture

Today's tutorial is from Nancy Couture's blog (Thanks, Nancy!!!), and is one of the easiest recycled wool projects i've seen in a while! Here is the one I made, following her instructions, and it literally took only minutes to make! I swear my husband just happened to be wearing that shirt, and didn't put it on just to match the hat ;)

Ready to make your own? Head on over to Nancy's Couture tutorial!!
