I have a question for my sweater customers...

Would it bother you if I opened up a second Artfire shop for my finished goods (diaper covers, hats, dryer balls, etc.)? One of the biggest reasons I haven't done that until now, is out of respect for my regular customers who make the same category of items. Obviously my diaper covers are different than others, and my hats are a different style than what my customers make, but it almost feels like competition to me. I don't want to compete with my sweater customers... I want to promote them! I like to sew and create, and would like to be able to sell to those who have asked me where they can buy my items, including local folks that ask about my things (so they have a venue to browse what I have on hand). I would still continue to promote other shops that make the same categories of goods, and nothing would change about my blog or what I do. So.... what do you think? :)

I think you should be free to do whatever you want. Don't worry about the competition factor. I, personally, am just happy there is someone like you who feels the same way about wool and enjoys spreading the wool love around as much as I do.

Absolutely! Go fot it! You are intitled to that as much as the next person. Everyone's product is unique in one way or another.

I agree with everyone's comments. Many of us are just doing this for fun and for ourselves. I love getting ideas from what others are doing and wouldn't see it as competition at all if you sold your items online.

I agree that you should definitely open a shop - and soon, please!

Competition should not be looked at as a bad thing, and sometimes makes people make better items, and even be more creative.

Kris,
Go for it! You create such wonderful, unique items and it would be great if more people had access to them. I think even if any of us make the same type of items as you, we put our own personalities into them and they end up having their own uniqueness. And I think that's a healthy kind of "competition". Sometimes it's an encouragement to keep being creative when we see what others do.

Go for it! I would love to have some of those items available to me, as I do not live near you and I have yet to master the art of making diaper covers...

That would be AWESOME! I just found your blog today and have already bookmarked the page. When I saw the nifty mittens you made I wanted so much to buy a pair, but only saw the raw sweaters on your shop. I'm just a beginning crafter, and am also a little busy just now (soon to have my first baby!), so frankly I'd rather just buy a pair of the mittens you already made so well. So excited to have kept scrolling down until I saw this post. It would be terrific if you started selling finished goods, too!
