The Lavendar Tree... and a future giveaway!
Every time I start to think that i've blogged about every talented recycled wool artist, and there's nobody left, I find another one! I love these adorable pillows that would be perfect anywhere, the unique retractable tape measures, and the fun coasters, but there is SO much more! Ann has a fabulous selection of recycled wool goodies in her Etsy shop, and she'd like to share that with one of you! She has graciously offered to do a giveaway, and asked me which item in her shop would be good for that. Since i've never done a giveaway (this will be fun!), I thought it would be a good idea to let you all decide. Please check out The Lavendar Tree Etsy shop, and put in the notes here what item of hers you would like to see in the giveaway.

Recycled wool menstral pads/mama cloth
At the risk of getting too "too much information" on you all, I had an idea for yet another great use for recycled wool. I have been using cloth menstral pads, also known as mama cloth, for years now. I would never go back to disposables again. In addition to environmental reasons, they are just way more comfortable. Mama cloth typically is made with absorbent materials on top, and a waterproof/water resistant layer on the bottom. I have see that bottom layer made of pul (laminated cloth), fleece, and wool. I have never seen anyone use recycled wool, but I think it would be fabulous for the bottom layer, especially if it was lanolized.... breathable, moisture resistant, bacteria resistant, and insulated. Now I am not saying that this is an original idea, but I have yet to see it, and a Google search came up with nothing. If I were a better sewer, i'd try to make some myself.

Back to school sale!!!!
As many of you know, I don't have sales often. This is a great time for you to stock up, & for me to clear out some inventory! All the sweaters that I accumulated all summer are waiting to be listed. Now that my son will be in school (starts this week!), I will once again be able to list sweaters in my shop at least once a week, so i'd like to make room for the new. Sale details, you ask? This is my best sale yet!...
$1 off each single sweater listing, buy 4 single sweater listings & get an additional $1 off. That's $5 off of 4!
Take 50 cents off of each sweater in any "lot" (multiple sweater listing). Buy 2 "lots" or more & get $1 off of EACH sweater in all lots!
This sale does apply to sweaters seen in my Sweater Sunday posts, but I cannot take any picture requests of them during the sale.
Of course, my $10 maximum shipping (you never pay more than $10 shipping on any order) applies to the sale as well :)
The sale officially starts Wednesday (the 1st day of school for my son), August 26th, and ends Sunday, August 30th at midnight. The sale starts on Wednesday because i'll be super busy for the next 2 days & won't be able to ship right away. If you want to get a jump on things, you can place an order (just stop when you get to the Paypal part!), and put "presale" in the notes, along with your paypal address where the revised invoice will be sent, but please be aware that they cannot ship until Wednesday.
Whew... I think that's it. Wait. No. That's not it. If you want to get on my "e-mailing list", just let me know, and i'll notify you of future sales (4 emails/sales a year, tops, I promise!). Ok, now i'm really done :)

VT Balsam, catnip napper
Fall is almost here, and the cats are all talking... "where am I going to sleep?", "they can't possibly think I could sleep on a floor, like a common dog", "I hope they realize I will be on the kitchen counter until spring". Have no fear! VT Balsam has the solution... catnip nappers! Even if they wouldn't gravitate toward these cute little recycled wool kitty quilts on their own, they have organic catnip within to seal the deal! For more info, check out their website.

Eco Sisters recycled wool dryer balls
I have been gathering a variety of recycled wool items to take with me to my fiber fair next month, to show examples of how useful recycled wool is, and to promote fellow recycled wool enthusiasts. I will have a table of these things, along with the business cards of the artists. Eco Sisters' dryer balls will be one of those things. The picture on top are mine (sorry I forgot to remove the "pills" before taking the picture), and the ones below are from their website. I have been using them nonstop since I got them a few weeks ago, and they are great. I had a wool dryer ball, but wanted a couple more. These are very well made, solid, and I don't foresee them ever coming apart. Why would you ever want to use those chemical laden, clothes ripping, ugly, noisy, made in China, mass produced, aweful PVC dryer balls, when you could have these gentle, quiet, natural fiber, recycled, visually appealing, hand made ones? Dying to get your hands on some? Check out their website!

My new purse!
First, I have to apologize for not posting all week. I brought an infected spider bite home from vacation as a souvenir, and have been having fun with that. Also, my poor old dog had 2 abscessed teeth (poor thing!), and was incontinent & not eating for days. Before you label me "Debbie Downer", I am happy to the report the spider bite healed up fabulously, and my dog is feeling great & eating after her adventures to the vet this week. I still have a messy house, but that's nothing time can't heal ;)
Onward & upward to my new purse! Shortly before I went on vacation I decided that I MUST have one of Karen Meyer's purses. I contacted her, and after some great questions on her end, she made me a custom purse. When I got back, the package was waiting for me. It's better than I thought! I had her put pockets on the end for me & my son's water bottles that we always have with us, and I love orange & brown, so this purse is perfect. The pictures don't do this purse justice. The amount of detail isfantastic. Where can I get me one of these fabulous purses, you ask? She has an Etsy shop, as well as her website.

I'm on vacation
I'm so sorry my blog has been stagnant, but I was busy preparing for vacation, and now I am on vacation. Have no fear, my blog will be hoppin' again soon! I will have a good Sweater Sunday post this Sunday... I bought a few sweaters right before I left, and i'll be a-sweaterin' on vacation as well. Soon my son will be back in school (more time for everything!), and I will post about things i'll be bringing to the fiber festival. Thanks for your patience! :)
