It's What I've been Working on Wednesday!

This pillow is it for the week. It's been a super busy week, so no time for sewing, but I made this pillow this morning. My son had told me a while back that I needed to make a hedgehog, so here it is. Jack said "awww! He's so cute!", so I think I did ok :).

Since I won't be getting my room addition any time soon, I needed convenient storage for my sewing. I got lucky & found this over the weekend at a garage sale:

Now I just need some nice looking baskets, and i'll have a decent looking sewing storage area!

So, what have you been working on? As always, feel free to post pics of your finished recycled wool projects on my facebook page.

Thanks! Posting them is what keeps me going. I wouldn't have made that pillow this morning, had I not realized I had nothing to post for today.

You need to make 'baskets' from felted sweaters...

wintunancy, I can't believe I didn't think of that! What a fab idea, and a great way to use up some of my scraps! Guess what you'll probably be seeing next Wednesday ;) ?

That hedgehog pillow is completely adorable! I love how you pieced the background together with the ribbing going in different directions.

By the way my own project mentioned last week is coming along well, I ended up hand basting all the patchwork pieces down with white thread before zigzag sewing the edges, then ripping out the basting afterward and steam blocking it. That's the background part done, so after finishing the next layer of applique (lettering & some extra design elements), I promise to post it on your blog! I *really* appreciated the details you shared about how you did yours, thank you so much!

Emily, That was actual how the piece was... it was the skirt part of a dress.

I'm glad to hear your project is coming along. I can't wait to see it!

I agree with emily m about the background ribbing on the pillow going different directions...and loving it! The color is beautiful, too, and the hedgehog is a most cute critter. Thanks for sharing it.
I know what you mean about the feeling, "...oh my goodness, what will I do for a project to post today!!!" That feeling goes through my head, too, but I love it that it gets me to make something and write about it on my blog. That's accountability for you. :-]

Janda, I couldn't imagine having to come up with a project post each day, like you do! Once a week is hard enough for me. The accountability is good :).

I love him (or her!). Craftzine blog had some great baskets made out of jeans pants legs. They would look awesome in your new storage unit!
BTW what size do you make your pillows in...I am working on my first...Amy in Sebastopol

Thanks, Amy! I love those baskets you mentioned (I had to look them up)! I'd do it, but I have no old jeans, and want to use up my enormous wool stash, so wool it is! The pillows are all different sizes. I use old thrift store throw pillows, that I thoroughly wash, so they are never the same size. I just make the pattern by tracing the shape of the pillow, and they turn out perfect, because they stretch.
