I decided to make a braided rug, but when my "rug" wasn't getting bigger as quickly as I hoped, I gave in to my crafting add, and made it into a small nest instead. My squirrel pincushion was more than happy to jump in, along with a couple of spools of thread & my scissors, and it is now the perfect little sewing organizer basket for when I am sewing in bed!
Maybe one day i'll make a rug, but today i'm happy with my nest.
If you love my squirrel pincushion, like I do, I bought it from my friend Lucy at Lucy's Locket. She now sells patterns & kits for not only squirells, but all sorts of adorable critters, so you can make your own!
I also made a few infinity scarves, because they are so fun to make! These are going to make great gifts for Christmas. It is never too early to start crafting for Christmas! I ironed the 2 on the left, for a more crisp, clean lines look, and left the red one fluffy & tube-like. Which look do you like better? I can't make up my mind.
So, what have you been working on? As always, feel free to post your latest finished recycled wool projects on my Facebook page. I love seeing them!

Such a cute nest!! I love how everything fits so well in it :)
(must be a "nest" day!)
I like how it fits snuggly too... nothing falls out of it. I was thinking the same thing about it being a nest day! I have to try your nests... they look delish!
I tried braiding a rug once. I found that crocheting it is so much faster.
I need to learn to crochet!
I just did something very similar with my braid! I was having trouble getting the the rug to lie flat because I'd braided it too tight, so I glued it around a box and made a cat bed!
You must have more patience than me, since yours fit a cat ;)
What are you doing sewing in bed???
I confess that I not only sew in bed, but watch tv in bed.
that nest and squirrel are so cute!

Thanks! Your dog clothes are adorable!
Love your nest! Reminds me of the Sweater Bowl that I made. And the squirrel is wonderful. I think I need one of those :-].
Great way of using up those sweaters that refuse to felt! Oh dear, i wish i have more time...
Jilly, I did use lightly felted wool, though it would be a good use for unfelted wool.
So cute!
I love the colors, and it would have been gorgeous as a rug. Maybe the hula hoop rug I just posted on facebook would work for wool? It seems like it would hold it's shape better than a braided one. Mine isn't turning out to great either- it's kinda bumpy and it's taking forever to sew it together.
