Super easy slippers part 2

I made more slippers, and wanted to show some variations. I decided to see what would happen if I felted a pair of slippers more after they were sewn. Here they are before I gave them another hot bath (FYI, you can click on the pictures to see them larger):

Here they are after:

They are a smidge smaller, as expected, but I love the way the seams came out... kinda fuzzy and undefined. Of course I had to mess with them more, and added cuffs.... I really like the addition of the cuffs. I like the look of the sweaters cuffs better, but they felted too small on this particular sweater, so I just used a scrap piece & folded it over to create the cuff. It takes such a short amount of time & they look better to me with cuffs. What do you think? Cuffs or no cuffs?

I then decided to make a pair of child sized ones. I used the size women's 5 template, since that was the smallest one provided on the tutorial. I used this funky patterned wool blend, but because of the odd texture, I added a layer of soft lambswool on the insole for added comfort. I again added cuffs. I tried these on my son for a size reference, and while they were too big, they weren't grossly oversized on him. He wears a size 10 toddler for reference. Another reason I like the cuffs is that they help them stay on... especially for children's slippers that may start out a bit big to grow into.

Better with cuffs. And the child ones are so cute. Like pixie boots.

I like the gray with the cuff, as well. I have only made felted slippers, never from a sweater ~ I'm going to try it.

I definitely like the cuffs...added warmth and I would think they would help the slippers stay on better!!

cuffs - yes!
bottoms - better with some jiffygrip over the sweater, and even better lined with some insulating fabric or insulpad (used in upholstery on sofas).

Ooh, I look forward to making several pairs! I've been wanting to make guest slippers and these are perfect!

I think the folded cuffs are really cute, though I would probably unfold them once on to keep my ankles extra-warm! I am definitely going to give these a try. Just need to consider the "slip factor", since we have hardwood floors... Maybe some puff paint on the soles... Or Victoria mentioned jiffygrip... I don't know what that is, but it sounds like something I might need! I would also like to one day have a basket of guest slippers by the door, since we are a shoe-free house. This would be a quick way to accomplish that since knitting them all is just not happening...!

I am the clumsiest thing, and we have a poorly insulated old house. That being said, I have no problem with slipping on my wood floors in my new slippers, and my feet are perfectly warm in them. I would worry about non-skid for a child, but not adults. I have heard great things about puff paint for non skid, but have no idea what jiffygrip is. I'll have to check it out!

Yes, cuffs. I may try the pattern again. And if you want some recycled suede for the bottoms, let me know. I did some damage in the suede coat section at Goodwill when the coats were $1. You are inspiring me to try this pattern again...
